Before departure, students who are selected for exchange students must be informed by the staff of exchange office at the International Affairs Office about submission of application documents, visa issuance, enrollment of courses to be completed during the exchange period, and credit recognition.
Credits of regular courses taken at a sister university can be recognized in our university. After receiving the guidance from the International Affairs Office, you should consult with your supervisor to determine the courses you will take at your sister university. Otherwise, you may not be granted credits.
From exchange student application to dispatch, you must submit sequentially, to the International Affairs Office, exchange student application form, exchange student recommendation letter, academic record certificate, official foreign language report card (except for some universities), exchange student interview/ language ability evaluation form, foreign university application documents, copy of passport, a letter of acceptance, a copy of your visa, a foreign university course, an alternative course application, a copy of your flight schedule, and a language school certificate. You may be required to submit other documents if you have any specific issues.
Once the exchange period has expired, the student will be required to submit an essay on exchange student experience and the relevant school curriculum to the International Affairs Office of our university.
In addition to reporting to our university, the student must submit relevant materials such as course descriptions for all subjects completed at his/her exchange university to the International Affairs Office.
It is recommended that the students ask to the exchange university to send the report card to our university as soon as possible, as the grades of the exchange university’s language/English will be converted to the grades of our language when we receive the grades of the exchange university.
As soon as the report card is received from the exchange university,, the International Affairs Office will let the student to confer with the supervisor and write and submit the credit transfer application form, and after the internal approval, the grade will be converted into the grade of our school.
If the number of credits and the grading method of our school and the exchange school are different, we will convert it according to the credit system of our school.
The tuition will be paid to our school while the student is dispatched as an exchange student.
An exchange student must remain enrolled in our school during the dispatch period.
Exchange students are responsible for expenses incurred during the study abroad procedure, travel expenses, and accommodation costs.
The credits earned at the university to which the exchange students are assigned can be recognized within a maximum of 19 credits.
The credits obtained will be submitted to the International Affairs Office for approval, and recognized after evaluating, by submitting 1 copy of the score report which was issued in the language of the exchange university and a copy of English score report sealed and mailed to the school(The University of Suwon, 17, Wauan-gil, Bongdam-eup, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, 18323 Korea). And a copy of credit transfer application form, and a copy of catalogue of course description, and To be recognized as a major, you must go through the approval process of your department head.
A copy of the lecture plan for each course which the student took must be submitted by the student directly to the International Affairs Office.
You must complete your grading process by submitting your transfer application within six months of the end of the exchange program.
A course completed at a sister university indicates that it is a "subject taken at an exchange university" in a scholastic record register, and is specified as an English subject name completed during the period of exchange student upon issuance of the transcript. Grades are recorded on the school report card based on the school's standard, but not on the cumulative total score.
Credits earned by an exchange student outside of the exchange university during the period of dispatch can not be accepted.
As a student will be sent to a sister university as an exchange student, he/she must comply with the school rules of his/her host university while studying. Student should try to keep the honor of our school by keeping in mind he/she is a member of Suwon university as well as a member of the host university.
After completing study as exchange student, he/she must submit the experience of the exchange university to the International Affairs Office, one copy in Korean and one copy in the exchange school’s language in the prepared form.
